Nijusseiki nashi (20th Century pears)

Several varieties of pears are produced here including 20th Century pears that boast its highest production volume in Hyogo Pref. It is said that pears become sweeter due to sea wind blowing against mountain slopes. Some farmers use crab shells as a fertilizer to grow pears. This town also produces pear wine made from 20th Century pears. Harvest mostly ends in September. Its pear meat has a fine texture and ample juice. The refreshing flavor is that of the king of pears.
